Upcoming Meeting Dates: April 16th: Webinar - Designing Buildings for Wind Load by ASCE 7-05 - taught by Larry Griffis, PE with Walter P Moore & Associates The webinar will start noon at Crafton Tull Sparks and will run until 1:30pm. 1.5 pdhs will be awarded to attendees. Crafton Tull Sparks is located at the corner of Shackleford and Chenal Parkway at the end of I-630. Cost per attendee is $30 to cover the cost of the webinar and lunch. May 15th: Post-Tensioned Concrete Design taught by Fred Hegi, PE The seminar will be held in the 3rd floor of the River Market Tower from noon until 4pm. We will start with lunch at noon followed by a short business meeting and then the seminar by Fred Hegi. After the seminar we will tour a couple of high rise buildings in the River Market that were designed by Mr. Hegi. 3 pdhs will be awarded the attendees of the seminar. Cost per attendee is $18 for lunch only and $30 for the lunch and the seminar. June 17th: Prospect Steel - lunch, presentation, and tour of their fabrication shop. Prospect Steel is one of only 2 AISC Std for Bldg fabricators in the state of Arkansas. Current work in their shop includes portions of the new Dallas Cowboys stadium, the new 13 story UAMS ACRC tower, and various power plants. They will answer the questions you always wanted to ask a steel fabricator. Please get your questions and topics to me a minimum of one week before the meeting. The lunch, tour, and presentation will start at noon and go until 2pm. Cost per attendee: free! July 17th Meeting - Tentative - Joint meeting between COAR (Code Officials of Arkansas) and SEAoAR - forum on Special Inspection with Steve presenting what they are requiring in Fayetteville and SEAoAR presenting our draft guidelines with discussion afterwards. I have tentatively reserved the AECC (Arkansas Electric Cooperatives) Board room for that meeting. Please let me know if you are interested in attending. August: 21st: Open September 18: Tenative - Geotechnical Engineering and Construction Testing - Grubbs Hoskyn Barton & Wyatt - we are working on a date with GHBW for this. The plan is to have the meeting at their shop with a presentation on geotechnical investigations, borings and field test, and demonstrations of concrete testing, and non-destructive testing and inspection procedures. Cost per attendee: to be determined. October 16th: Structural Precast Concrete - hosted by Core Slab Structures in Conway. We will have lunch at their shop or at a local restaurant. Core Slab will put together a program on structural precast concrete then the participants are invited to tour their shop. Get any questions and topics on structural precast concrete that you have to me to forward to them. Lunch will start around noon with the tour concluding around 2pm. November 20th: Tentative - SEAoAR's 1st Annual Meeting. We are looking for a location and seminars. We plan to have a 3 hour seminar in the morning and another 3 hour seminar in the afternoon with a lunch and meeting between the seminars. Current seminar topics being considered include masonry design and the ATC seminar for evaluation of damage to buildings from wind. Final changes to the new AR Fire Prevention (Building) Code written around the 2006 IBC. Structural changes including the watering down of the seismic requirements for certain structures from the requirements of 2006 IBC / ASCE 7-05 are covered on pages 28 through 32 of the document.
